D is for Dallas

Today is the day we are supposed to fly from Albuquerque to Fort Wayne, Indiana, connecting through Dallas. Our flight leaves - theoretically - around 12:30, landing at 3pm. We have a long layover - 4 hours, before continuing on. Tomorrow, Thursday, is the day we planned to see our finished RV - our new home - for the very first time.

But yesterday, horrible tornadoes spun through the Dallas area, and hail pummeled the airport. So we're not sure what to expect today. Early flights out of Albuquerque to Dallas were cancelled, so we just have to wait and see.

I'm so sorry for those hit by the tornadoes, for their losses, the fear and their sorrow. The news said there were no reported deaths, and I hope that's true.

As for us, we are so fortunate to be starting a wonderful new adventure. I'm scared - I woke up this morning feeling petrified - not just about tornadoes and flying, but the whole thing - the unknown - the infinite number of things that can go awry. But once we get going, I'll be okay. A bit of inconvenience in our itinerary is nothing compared to what folks hit by the tornadoes have experienced. So we'll just go with the flow and I'll let you know tomorrow if we made it to Indiana as scheduled or if we were D is for Delayed.

Stay safe everyone, and cherish the day.

  2. I had a layover in Dallas once flying from Detroit to Albuquerque. It's a pretty big airport, so at least there should be plenty of room if you get stuck for a while.

Hope everything goes smoothly for you. We were watching the news last night and getting chills as we saw those tractor trailers flying through the air like paper airplanes. Dear God I hope no one was in them at the time.

  4. Those tornadoes were crazy. I can't believe the footage on TV. Thinking of you guys as you start out and hope the delays aren't too bad. I don't think it would be normal if you didn't have a little fear and anxiety. Big change but as you said...once you get going...all will be good!

  8. Thanks Karen. It's so true of course, and it's what we teach and learn in yoga, but it always requires reminding! Thanks for reminding me!
