Tomorrow I'm Swapping Blogs with Greg Allen

Tomorrow I'll be swapping blogs with Greg Allen, author of Chicken Boy, The Amazing Adventures of a Super Hero with Autism. He's guest posting about the inspiration for the book. I hope you'll stop by here to meet him, and make sure you say, "Hi Greg!"

This is Greg:

And this is Greg's book:

In other news:

At YogaSource, we've started having practice sessions where the teachers get together and we share different ways to teach poses. It's a great way to learn variations and new techniques. Anyway, yesterday we did all this cool stuff using the "rope wall" - which isn't really ropes - more like straps. It's amazing for getting really long extention in the spine. I think I'm two inches taller!

Later today I'm teaching the Gentle Yoga class and I have some fun stuff in store for them using chairs to help them do the standing poses.

We've got blue skies and sunshine over Santa Fe this morning. Other than teaching that class, there's nothing I HAVE to do today, and that is a nice feeling!

Happy Friday!

  1. The "rope wall" sounds like something I need to try and get. Sounds like a perfect day. Enjoy!

    1. Tracy Jo - it's SO fun! I get a little scared when we start walking up the wall and then hang, but it's very safe and you're really supported and man does it feel good - essentially - you're in traction!

  5. Melissa, what a delightful blog you have. I must stay in touch 'cause I'll be buying your book for my grandson.

Thank you so much for the comment on my blog. You said angels were speaking to me. I opened your comment right after having lunch with a friend, who said the same thing.

Nice to know we're sort of neighbors. I'm in Las Cruces.

  6. Since MS has left me supple as a brick I am really interested in your stretching. I don't need to be any taller, but I would really, really like to have some more movement back.

    1. I think gentle is the way to go - also restorative, which is passive but allows for opening and relaxing, would just feel good anyway. I would think the ropes would be very nice for you - long passive stretch without effort.

  7. Nothing to do all day.....
The only thing better is nothing to do all day tomorrow.
Unless, of course, it also means nothing to do all day Sunday.

    1. That's my plan, Al. I'm hoping it snows like crazy on Sunday so I'll have a really good reason to do nothing all day. :-)

    1. Megan, I've done yoga off and on since I was 12 - but there were many "off" years. It always stayed with me. I didn't become a yoga TEACHER until I was 54! Never too late. I really think it one of the best practices for aging gracefully. Not that you need to worry about that yet!
