Thursday Thinkabout

I've met so many lovely Aussies here in Bloggiland and that's what made me "thinkabout" the title for today's post. Kind of like a walkabout, only lazier ...

So Things I'm Thinking About about today:

Why on earth do people agree to go on Judge Judy? Seriously. They must know she's going to annihilate them ...

You do NOT want to get THIS look from Judge Judy!
Do you think we could put a temporary moratorium on new internet stuff so we can all take a breath and get caught up? (This thought brought on by finding myself totally out of the loop with regard to Pinterest, which I have now joined and have no clue how to use)

Please, just a little time-out?

Is it only in Santa Fe that people ride their bikes to work when it is snowing out?

Apparently not, because this photo was taken somewhere else

Things I'm grateful for today:

Going to Valentine's lunch with my sweetie, even though it's not actually Valentine's Day. But I worked Tuesday so we waited until I was off. We're going to Burro Alley, which used to be Cafe Paris (please pronoune Paree), the first place we discovered in Santa Fe. It's special to us. They have a fabulous French bakery and we are going to have a dessert treat for sure! I'll take a picture of dessert with my new iphone.

I've written two solid first chapters of my next book and sketched out three more. Hope to poke at those over the weekend and end up with at least one more in first-draft-finished state.

Only 48 days until we hit the road!

What's going on with you today and what's on your Thinkabout radar?

  1. I've often said that about Judge Judy! Do some people think that THEY will be the one who can fool her?
I finally joined Pinterest too. Not sure exactly what to do...yes we need a timeout.
    Enjoy your Valentine's lunch!

    1. Anyone who tries to give it back to Judge Judy will wind up mincemeat! Gosh, maybe we need to form a Pinterest Support Group. :-)

I would have to be pretty desperate to be on TV to go on Judge Judy. She is cool though. Quite the lady. Good for you getting so much writing done.
What am I thinking about today????? Um.....squirrel....what was the question again?

  3. I love Judge Judy. I love the way people look so smug before she rips into them.

And now that I know I can postpone Valentine's Day, I'll grab hubby for lunch next week!!

  4. Regarding Judge Judy: I agree! Why would they do that???

And I joined Pinterest, too, and also have no idea what to do with it. And the most interesting thing - I'm getting emails saying that different people I know are following me on Pinterest. It makes me think that facebook is posting that I'm on Pinterest, but I don't remember saying that was OK.

  5. My father used to watch Judge Judy every single day. I know quite a few seniors who are regular participants in her 'take no prisoners' style of justice.
I wonder if they - and all the other watchers - are pleased that somewhere, someone is showing common sense around justice. No matter that it's all theater, we seniors value common sense. And, yes, I agree that those poor deluded miscreants must think that they will be the ones who can beat her! Rather like the gladiators and the lions, isn't it?

I haven't a clue what Pinterest is - yet. I'll get curious enough to investigate one of these days.

    1. There is often something very satisfying about Judge Judy! I think sometimes she probably wishes she could just throw some of those folks in jail for being either stupid or too arrogant!

  6. I could definitely use that time out! Your lunch sounds lovely...make sure to post the picture. :-) Today I am off to shoot some head shots of a beautiful girl. It is 40 degrees and sunny in MN - happy the weather is cooperating! I love being able to use the natural light. Have a wonderful day!

  7. Hi Melissa,
Thank you for stopping by my blog. I joined yours as well :D
I also stopped by Ann's blog (we're fellow bloggers).
I bet the guy in the bike is a Montrealer, LOL! Not even the snow stops Montrealers from going out.

    1. We used to cross-country ski at Mont St. Anne in late February - we were freezing and then these little old Canadian ladies would go skiing right past us, happy as clams. Love Canadians!

  8. Oh this is a great post!
I have NO IDEA why people go on those judge shows. They are masochists.
I have been avoiding pinterest for almost a year now. I can't handle one more thing.
I would never ride my bike in the snow. I would fall on my face.
And Love and Books make the world go 'round. ;)

  9. Thank you for your compliment to us Aussies. We have our fair share of the other kinds of people too.
I don't understand why anyone would go on any of the 'reality' shows. Your worst side will always be on display. Sigh.
The Valentine's Day celebration sounded great - late or not.
And congratulations on the book work. It sounds as if you are powering through it.

  10. Hello from the campaign. Think? Is that what people are supposed to do before doing? Not thinking is how they end up on Judge Judy's show. And oh, no, Pinterest doesn't hold my interest if it's another thing I have to join! I'd really like to know how you like my book intro on my blog. Could I skip the second paragraph and do as well? Because some adult beta-readers felt blindsided by that stuff whereas a class of 7th graders took it in stride, no complaints about not knowing where the plot was going or why things happened. How do I reconcile the two vastly different sets of expectations (or should I say lack thereof for the teens?) Those are my current thoughts, more like worries.

  11. Some people always think they are right and will do anything just to be on TV. Shows like Judge Judy prove it. ;) Congrats on getting work done on your book, too.

  12. Dear Melissa,
I so enjoy your sharing what's happening with your writing. I'm trying to write seriously again. But I haven't yet found the routine that will work for me. The stories are there. I just need to provide space and time and heart for them to take root in me and grow.

    Peace.
