Bognati (Say what?)

While blog visiting this week, I came across something that was fun - creative in a silly sort of way. So I'm stealing borrowing it. I can't recall whose blog it was, so I hereby acknowedge YOU, without knowing who YOU are, for this fun idea.

What he/she did was take those funky words that we have to input to prove that we are thinking human beings when leaving a comment, and came up with definitions for them.

So here are a few that I came upon over the past few days:

burbons: bonbons made with bourbon

biliki: licking the envelopes for your bills

purbing: curbing your puppy

well, this one got off the leash ...

I also like this one, but I can't for the life of me come up with a definition, so I am putting it out there to you. Please define:

bognati

Look forward to your brilliant definitions!

  1. Bognati sounds like a good last name. :)

And this is how addicted to Words with Friends I've gotten - it unscrambles to "boating."

  2. Sounds like a fancy kind of bologna.

  3. Reminds me of bog bodies and how they manage to stay so incredibly gorgeous after being dead so long :)

    1. Yes, like bognati is what happens to bog bodies - the process of not decomposing!

  4. Ew - bog body? Why don't they decompose? Good hiding place for zombies. City near a bog (bognati reminds me of Cincinnati).

    1. Perhaps bognati is a bog outside of Cincinnati. So far, that one is my favorite :-)

  5. Purbing. Wouldn't that be a great play for Words With Friends. As a blogger myself, Words With Friends seems a more appropriate time-waster than, say, television. Bottom line, my blog has more word game posts than thoughtful entries. Too easily preoccupied by WWF and TV. I will always justify my TV time as long as I can tie it back to wordplay. Blame my love of Scrabble, WWF and TV trivia for me creating my blog and the anagrams I invent. Still, all these distractions keep me from posting interesting stuff like you do.

  8. Dear Melissa,
What a fun game to play. I like your definitions and would add, stressing how to pronounce it--not spell it, the following for "bognati": a bow that's naughty. Like a ribbon bow that won't stay tied!

    Peace.

  11. Going with the Italianate pronunciation, bognati are the people who live exclusively aboard yachts, I think.
