C is for Coffee

My Coffee Truths:

  • I did not start drinking coffee until I was around 30 years old. I was a milk drinker until then!!

  • I love the smell of coffee more than the taste.  But I LOVE the taste of that  first cup of coffee in the morning.

  • The second cup never tastes as good as the first

  • I am not  allowed to make the coffee in our house. RVPainter says that I make it wrong on purpose so that he will have to do it. This is not true - I try to make it right, according to his formula, but it doesn't come out the same. I can only surmise that he has left something out of his recipe. And from that I can only surmise that he WANTS to make my coffee everyday.

  • The best coffee I ever had was at the Kauai Coffee Plantation on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. It was so good that we joined the Kauai Plantation Coffee of the Month club and had it delivered to us monthly. Our favorite was the Poipu Estate Blend. Since we will be traveling, we have had to give up this luxury. Wah wah wah
  • A while back, I decided that I wanted to invest my IRA money in socially responsible stocks. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters came up as a company that dealt ethically with its farmers and suppliers and in an environmentally conscious way. I made a boatload of money on my GMCR stock, which split over and over and over during the 10 years I owned it. The moral as I see it, is that you CAN be ethical and profitable too.
  • I do like Starbucks coffee, but I'm intimidated by all the choices and the things you hear people rattling off when they order: I'll have a tall skinny mini mocha locca caramelito latte please.

  • Here's a little coffee humor:

  • It's hard to get good coffee when you are traveling. We are going to be going ALL OVER, so I'd GREATLY APPRECIATE it if you'd share what you think is the best coffee joint in your neck of the woods.
Thanks!!!!

B is for Blake

So we are on day 2 of Liberation, having moved out of the temporary apartment on Saturday. We are biding time at the Best Western until Wednesday, when we FINALLY fly to Indiana to get our RV. Best Western is another "B" word, and I have to put in a good word for BW, as we've been quite satisfied with our stays over the past year. The BW Beds are terrific. During the challenge, I want to post about whatever is going on with our new RV adventure. But it doesn't really get exciting until we leave on Wednesday. So, since nothing exciting that begins with a B is happening, I'm just going to give you a picture of Blake Shelton. I took it with my iPhone off of the TV here in our BW room during the Country Music Awards last night. He sure is handsome. Reba's cute too, but this is a B post, not an R post :D

AND AWAAAAAAAAY WE GO!

It's the A to Z Challenge!

If you are old enough, you'll remember the immortal Jackie Gleason starting his weekly variety show with the words, "AND AWAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY WE GO!"

Since it's the start of the April A to Z Challenge, AND it's the start of our Big RV Adventure, this seemed like the perfect "A is for" post. Gleason always accompanied that line with a little dance-like movement involving the arms and legs - I couldn't find a picture of The Great One himself doing it, so RVPainter stepped in to demonstrate:

The April A to Z Challenge will indeed be a CHALLENGE for me this year, because we are on the move! Wednesday we fly to Elkhart, Indiana to get our new RV and then we will be figuring out how to live in it and DRIVE it - LOOK OUT EVERYONE!! So, my ability to post will be influenced by our access to WIFI, but when we've got it, I promise pictures and updates. I'll do my best to post every day, and if you're visiting me from the Challenge, I promise to come by your place when I can! And you can see what a fun guy RVPainter is, so stop over to his blog too - he's not in the challenge, but he'll make you laugh. Find him HERE
