Dixieland Jazz in the Garden

Just because we stopped RVing doesn't mean we've stopped having fun :) There is plenty here in Florida to investigate, and we've only just begun.

Last Sunday we went to the Naples Botanical Garden for an afternoon Dixieland Jazz concert. This was a great deal (I'm a fan of great deals), as you only paid the $12.50 price of admission to the gardens and got to wander around the garden and see the concert too. I know! All for $12.50! Can't beat that!

We brought our own chairs, parked them under a palm tree, and wandered off to check out the gardens. When we lived in Arizona, the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden was one of our favorite places. Well, the Naples Botanical Garden is one of our NEW favorite places! There are gardens with different themes,
like the Japanese Garden:

And the Brazilian Garden:

I forgot to mention they were having a Lego exhibit, which at first doesn't sound all that interesting, but when you see the Lego sculptures, I think you'll be impressed. In fact, see those big lily pads in the picture just above? Those are made from Legos! Here are some more:

Lego Lawn Mower

Lego Butterfly

Lego Farmer Guy

The concert was great too - it had a Mardi Gras Theme:

Here are more pictures from the garden:

Recycle Garden

My favorite - a garden that grows pocketbooks!!

And here's Dick keeping sun off of his right ear :)

  3. Dear Melissa, that truly is a creative garden and I can easily see why you had such a great time there--all that innovation and beauty + a jazz concert. There is a Lego exhibit here that I'm going to visit with a young friend--she's nine--when she's here over my birthday. I'm so looking forward to that. Peace.
