Empty Bowls

Tonight we went to an Empty Bowls fundraiser to raise money for food for homeless students at local schools.

You get a bowl handmade by a child from a local school, and local restaurants provide soup and rolls:

These guys played great Blue Grass music:

It was a good time, supporting a good cause.

The other day we went to a beautiful beach called Boca Grande. This blue heron was on the beach:

He started following me - I turned around and it looked like he was sneaking up on me! It's very lovely here and we are considering it as a place to settle down. I'll keep you posted on that!

  1. What a wonderful fund raiser. I love the sneaky blue heron too. That beach looks very special as well - was it as deserted as it looked?

  3. Dear Melissa, as EC said, "what a wonderful fund raiser." Thanks for letting us know about it. Perhaps it's done here in Missouri also. Peace.

    1. Hi Dee, They did one when I lived in AZ, so I do think the concept is out and about in many areas.

  5. You already know this, I'm sure, but just make sure you know how hot it is in the summer. Unless you plan to summer up north like a lot of people do. I visited my niece in Pensacola and loved that old town area, and thought about doing the same thing, but then I was there in August. OMG.

    1. Hi Lynn - I know. OUr hope is to leave in summer, but I am a little worried about that aspect. We sure don't want to be here in hurricane season, so we've got to figure that part out. We loved that Pensacola area and Gulf Breeze too.
