FRIDAY FIVE: MY FIVE FAVORITES MOMENTS FROM OUR FIRST MONTH ON THE ROAD

Amazing to think we've been on the road for a month already! As you know, our first month was at times a wild (and scary) ride, and at other times, the most absolutely wonderful experiences in beautiful and interesting places. I feel like now that we've landed in familiar territory and have seen familiar faces, and we're not moving around so far and so fast, I'm settling into the adventure much better.

So here are my five favorite experiences from this first month:

5. The Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio, TX

4. Pretty much everything about Charleston, South Carolina

3. Even though it was a little scary at first, once we got used to it, Palmetto Island State Park in Louisiana was very relaxing....in a weird sort of way... Anyway, our little adventure there makes for one of our best stories!

2. The magical surprise of white sandy beaches and aquamarine ocean at Fort Pickens State Park in Pensacola Florida. Heaven!

1. Memorial Day with my family - that's Jessie, me and Dick in the back seat, Lizzie, Livvie and Terry - driving - in the front. What a great day and a great time we had with them.

On Wednesday, I met with a class of third graders in North Andover - their whole class read my book and loved it.They had so many great questions about writing and our hour together just flew by. They wanted me to autograph their books, their notebooks and little pieces of paper - it made me feel famous :). Next week, I have another school visit - this one is with fourth and fifth graders in a different town. Too much fun!

Looks like we'll eek out one more beach day today before a rainy spell sets in tomorrow - that's okay - I've got writing to do!

Great memories. You'll have to get a promo photo of yourself done with the dreamcatcher logo on the back of the camper to sign for all these kids. Then you'll really feel like a famous author/celebrity. That's a fabulous car by the way.

  12. How exciting that the students loved your book. Of course, I'm not at all surprised. What an amazing month you had, it was impossible to choose a favorite picture. I hope the adventure continues to be just as exciting in the months ahead. :)
