This N That

**********************************************************************************************
THIS:

Just got a thumbs-up on an article query I sent to one of the major writing magazines. They love the idea and want to assign it to me as a two-page, 1650-word feature, but don't quite know when. So I agreed to give them a couple of months to see if they can be more definitive with timing. It's the first feature article query I've sent out in quite a long time, so it was nice to have it well received!

If you are visiting my blog from the Blogdramedy Blogshorts Challenge, please forgive me, as I am unable to participate after all because:

A) I forgot, and
B) I started writing my new book and I need to give it all my attention.

It's nice to meet you though, and if you leave a comment on my blog, I will stop by yours. And if you follow me, I'll return the favor. Feel free to mosey around my blog - I look forward to getting to know you.

THIS:

Check out my husband's blog at http://rvpainter.blogspot.com.

He's an artist and his blog combines talk about art and talk about RV's (we hope to buy one soon), but the main thing is he's very funny! So even if you don't care about art or RV's his blog will make you laugh.

Over the weekend, I got up to 1200+ words on my new book. Taking it slowly at first, but it feels good to be working on a longer project again.

  2. Thanks Becky - I'm going to start writing the article now, so by the time they are ready it will be the best possible - for them, or their competitors!

  3. Big congrats on that acceptance, Melissa! And good luck, hunkering down with your book. I know exactly what you mean--I don't get to visit (in blogdom) as much as I'd like, because the book comes first. (But today I was determined to visit some new commenters like you and I'm so glad I did!)

  7. Congrats on the acceptance of your article, Melissa! That is exciting, not to mention starting a new book. I am also working on a book, which started out as a short story, but, I fell in love with the characters and now need to do more.
I have not been good, though. I am at a point where I need to have some real drama and I am balking at how to proceed.
    Blessings on both!

  8. Linda, nice to meet you - I stopped by your blog. I love the title and take on things. Thanks everyone for the kind wishes. I think the book will take a long time to write, but I actually relish the idea of living with it for a long time! Plus it will require a trip to Wales....:-)

  9. I wish you success with the article, Melissa.

And I hope the fire smoke is getting better and not worse. I have a niece with her young family in Tucson. But her siblings say they think she's okay.

If you get a minute for blogging, pop over to see my new WordPress blog. I'm transitioning from Blogger to it. I'll keep my blogspot but only to announce on it when I've posted on WordPress. I hope I don't lose all my followers. I want to keep the ones that are really followers and might like to read some of the topics I'm going to post.

And I hope you enjoy my book when you have time to read it. I look forward to your response.
